Kitchen Upgrade

The client had just purchased his first house.  He was thrilled with the place but the kitchen cabinets were old and needed replacing.  Because the client had just spent a lot on the house he was on a bit of a tight budget.

The appliances were fairly new and the countertop was still fine so we decided to just do a cabinet upgrade.  First, we sat down and planned out where the new cabinets would go.  We ordered them and got busy removing the old cabinets and fixing up the walls behind them.  The new cabinets came we went to work assembling and installing.  Next, we had to install a range hood vent that actually vented outside as the old one didn’t.

When the cabinets were in place we put the countertop back on and put the appliances in their places.  We left some spaces open among the upper cabinets for reclaimed firm shelves that we polished with some tung oil.  And then the final touches: We installed the knobs and pulls and adjusted all the drawers and doors.

The client is very happy with their kitchen now and by putting in the reclaimed firm shelving he was able to save nearly a thousand dollars in cabinetry.
